A few of my favorite things

My Favorite Lady. She is so awe inspiring! If you ever get the chance, go and see her. Plan ahead and go online and get tickets to do the base tour (I call it the "look up the statues skirt" tour). Lots of cool info, not to mention (and I think this is the coolest part of the tour), there are these letters that people wrote back in the 80's when they were renovating her. People of course mailed in donations to help with the cost. Including former imigrants who remember sailing into the harbor, and their first peek at America was Lady Liberty. Their memories in these letters had me (no joke), crying.

My favorite Wednesday Night dinner buddies! I would arrange my work schedule just so I could be there! From left to right is John (originally from Texas), Mike, and Bejohn (sorry if that's misspelled!). Mike and B worked for the company that managed the apts I lived in. John lived in one of the other buildings. Mike and B started inviting tenets to join them. (there was another guy Nick who used to join us, but he had to move back to Ireland). It got to be a pretty close-knit group, and it got to where not just anyone got invited to join us!
These guys were just flat out cool to hang out with. And yes....I was the only girl in the group! (there had been one other, but she moved to California). I gave them a hard time about that, told them we needed more females in the group. Truth be told though.....I liked being the only girl there!! It was just more fun!

Ok, this is only a FRACTION of my Favorite Co-Workers. Left to Right: Laurie, me (duh), Edy, Iris, Helen, me again (duh again), and Fran -who invited me over to her Mom's house with her husband and family to watch fireworks on the 4th of July. And, being from an Italian family...you guessed it, her Mom fed us!! YUM!
You want to talk about a great group of Nurses. Roosevelt Hospital. Not to mention all my other non-Nurse friends (Theresa!!!!). I was so very, very tempted to stay. Let me just tell ya....when a bunch of Yankee Nurses decide they want YOU to stay and work with them permanently.....they can be very persuasive!!

My favorite Diner. The Green Kitchen. Good food, decent prices, HUGE amounts of food. That is me, by the way, sitting at the table by the window.
NOT pictured is my favorite Italian: Leonardo's on 82nd and 2nd. Oh my. Go with an appetite. And go willing to eat the way it's prepared. The chef is not known for his willingness to change up his dishes. They are: as is. And *SO* worth the feeling of misery you will experience when you waddle out of the restaurant. So, so,SO good.

My Favorite Trainer. Abu. He will kick your hiney!! And laugh while he does it! It was not uncommon during a workout with Abu, to hear me say "YOU SUCK!!!". Usually during ab work. But I was toning up, and buffin' up! Now that I've left him....I really have to find a gym down here and keep up his good work!!

Meeting famous people. I love it! I'm so easily star-struck that it's pitiful. But it's fun! There were a bunch of Teenie-boppers swarming around Joey Lawrence after his performance in "Chicago". They were all saying how much they *loved* him in "Dancing with the Stars". He was gracious and said "oh, thank you!". Then I piped up with "I loved you in Blossom!" (Just HAD to show my age!!) He just looked shocked and laughed! But I still got a photo and his autograph! (I also got Will Smith's autograph while he was filming "I Legend"!!)

My favorite Heroes. Love, love, LOVE Firemen. And lets face it....NYC's got some hotties (no pun intended!). Seriously. There's something about a group who will run INTO a burning building to save my sorry hind-end that just makes me smile all over.

Ok, and finally, not pictured (because of my poor planning): My Favorite:

Bus: #31. Even though it's the bus I took to work, it's a cross-town bus, and could get me pretty close to where I wanted/needed to go!

Subway: #6 (actually 4 or 6). This was also known (by me atleast) as "the green line". But don't say that to a real New Yorker. They'll laugh at you.

Broadway Show: Pretty much any of them. Xanadu was kinda stupid, and I didn't get all the jokes. Chicago was good, but the movie, I think, is better. Spamalot made me snork, and Hairspay had Beaver Cleaver in it. You pretty much can't go wrong with Broadway.

Visitor: All of them!! I love it when people come to visit me, and I had fun with everyone that came up there!

Ok, guess that's it for now. My NYC experience was, by far, one of my more exciting ones! Chicago being the other. Don't ask me to compare the two, 'cause I can't. I don't know what I expected going into NYC, but I know that the visit was very unexpected! I loved it there. So much to do and see. It never gets boring, and you'd be surprised how friendly people actually are there. They are proud of their city, and want to share it with you!! Go and have FUN!!
